Goldsmithing Masterpiece

Jewellery Box
Silver, anodized titanium, carbon-fibre and cubic zirconia

I made this final training piece during my internship at Le Marquis in Bergen op Zoom. The central theme is strength. The brilliant cut is often associated with diamonds, the hardest material on earth. This, in combination with titanium and carbon-fibre, creates an 'indestructible' piece. The box opens along the facet edge of the stone. I also made a computer drawing of this design before making it because the sizes and proportions needed to be exactly correct for me to be able to make it in silver. After cutting the pieces out of silver, I soldered them at precise angles and, finally, attached the titanium and carbon-fibre pieces using laser-technology. The inside of the box is finished with grey-blue Alcantara.
